The Mowbray

Fantastic Stay once again! This is the second time i have booked The Mowbray and haven’t been disappointed. Roy the owner is a lovely friendly and helpful man. Breakfast outstanding!! I have booked my stay again for next August 2025 and can’t wait! See you next year,Roy!

Roy, I presume the owner, is so rude it’s almost comical. I booked a suite for my son and I, and requested single beds placed as far apart as possible. On arrival, they were 4 inches apart, so we moved one of them to the other side of the room. It was on wheels so took a few seconds. The exposed carpet was filthy so we left the bed where it was in the morning to allow them to give it a rare vacuuming. Roy actually phoned me after we’d left to remonstrate..he was almost apoplectic that we had dared to move a bed! I’d like to know what award the ‘award winning breakfast’ has won? Maybe the most anaemic and unappealing sausage? Or perhaps an award for cramming the most tables in to a tiny basement breakfast room? To be fair I’ve had worst breakfasts but also many far better The hotel is tired and dated but the owner is incredible..I’m still feeling a bit stunned by his tirade

Very poor experience. Paid £366 for two nights and after spending a hour in the room we left and checked into another hotel. Towels were filthy, the shower was poor to use and whilst on would leave a bad smell from the water tank. I got fooled into thinking this was a 4 star hotel looking at various sites but it is a not even a 3 star b&b. Lost our money as owner didn't entertain refunding any of the money I paid up front. Very poor experience and £366 lighter with no option of any refund

I have used this hotel 3 years running when I come to our annual conference. I don't usually book breakfast as i can go to one of the local cafes cheaper. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The price was higher than other hotels in the area.

My overnight stay exceeded expectations. Location perfect, value great, breakfast outstanding. The booking in system worked for me, the room despite being single had all essentials and more. Highly recommended. Looking forward to my next visit.

Very welcoming and professional staff. Very comfortable, large bed; excellent breakfast. Excellent position re Devonshire Park Theatre. Room and ensuite small but very serviceable. Vg tea/coffee facilities in room. Very comfortable guest sitting room.

Really nice room, would definitely go back. Lovely friendly staff, breakfast was amazing. Everything was made easy for us, despite not having a traditional reception. Location is perfect for beach, theatre and town. Would definitely recommend for a family stay.

Another wonderful stay at the Mowbray. A seamless booking with clear details on check in and parking for 6 days made so easy by owner Roy who was on the end on the phone or e mail if you needed him. The room was so comfortable - spacious and with a fab power shower with nice hot water. The breakfast here is the best ever with such a huge choice and cooked to perfection- the 2 ladies ( which I did not get their names) looking after you at breakfast - made the stay even more enjoyable- they were friendly- kind and accommodating I will be back x
